Amaryllis

This plant was extremely impatient and began to regenerate its life force before it was even potted. Once planted, it grew about an inch per day, and within a week, it had its blossoms in place. Amaryllis are wonderful plants because they can bloom several times a year. Each bloom is purposefully dynamic.

The Way of Images

This winter was an unusual one with much rain, wind and general mayhem. The result of the cold and rains allowed the rose tree to soak up more water than usual. The blooms this year are large, full and dynamic.

Cycles

It was astounding to watch the rose bloom and fade. A bloom's life cycle is so short. I felt I was watching the force of will at work. The plant put forth a great deal of energy to create the leaves and bulbs and stems. Once the blooms arrived it seemed to give its last amount of energy to sustain the blooms and then it was done and they began to fade. It all happened so quickly and with such precision.

Making The Desert Bloom

This small garden space is made grander by the use of varying sizes, shapes, and colors of plants. Is is a low sun garden in which a mirror is used as a reflective surface to capture more of the sun's warmth and light. A once wild, dirt covered space, was transformed into an oasis.
